Holidays are bizarre the deeper you get into adulting. They become less and less about the “reason for the season” (whatever that may mean to you) and more about all the hard things and the complicatedness of existing on this planet..

And then there’s holidaying while abroad. China is a wild place and being here, in a country where “Jesus” has been replaced by the Chinese Communist Party, makes for an interesting late-November and December.
